In positive psychology, flow, also known as "the zone", is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does.
There are many ways to find "flow". You can experience it while cleaning, cooking, dancing, or working. When you practice something enough, you can naturally find yourself in the state of flow. The more you experience that state, the easier you can access it. It makes simple tasks easier, enhances endorphins, and helps with balance physically and mentally.
Flow Camp was founded in 2011 when a small group of people decided they wanted to help others experience and learn the state of flow the way they had... through dance and movement. The term "flow arts" has become more popular since then and usually refers to object manipulation like hoops, poi, staff, fans, juggling, etc. We believe that that term can be even broader to include belly dance, aerials, burlesque, yoga, and more.
Flow Camp 2017 will feature three nights of music with ample space to dance, spin, and sit by the huge bon fires.
Workshops will be from 10am-8pm on Friday and Saturday.
Do not miss our instructor showcases! Friday night will be our burlesque show and Saturday will be our main show.
